            The Service That Pleases God
           October 27, 2002

In his message, Pastor Nicky Joya talked about the service that
pleases God.  Quoting passages from Romans 12:6-8, Pastor Nicky
discussed individual Christian's spiritual capacity for service and
           spiritual character of service.
            A. Our Spiritual Capacity for Service
            1. We have diverse gifts.
            We have different gifts...
            2. Our gifting is determined by God.
...according to the grace given us (I Cor. 12:11,18)
            3. It is God's will that we exercise our gifts.
            4. We discover our gifts when we are active in serving, not
           before.
            5. The exercise of our gifts builds up the church. (Eph. 4:16; I
           Cor. 12:7; 14:26)
            B. The Spiritual Character of Service
            1. The exercise of our gifts should be done in faith.
If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to
his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is
teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him
           encourage.
            2. The exercise of our gifts should be done generously.
...if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously
            3. The exercise of our gifts should be done with diligence.
...if it is leadership, let him govern diligently
            4. The exercise of our gifts should be done with cheerfulness.
...if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

            "It
was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to
be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare
God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may
be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the
knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the
whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
