               Steadfastness
              to the Basics
              August
              25, 2002

           In
his message, Pastor Nicky Joya exhorted the members of the Church to
persevere, stand firm, and be steadfast and faithful in observing the
           basics of Christian life.

           Quoting
Acts 2:41-47, Pastor Joya gave as example the experiences of the
early Christians who persevered in doing good and sharing with one
           another what they had.

           The
essential element, he said, is the early Christians'
steadfastness to the basics of Christian life.
           They
           devoted themselves...

           The
           explosive effects were:
           1.
Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous
signs were done by the apostles.
           2.
...enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to
their number daily those who were being saved.

           Likewise,
Christians today would see the same wonders if they would only put
their faith in God. "Just be faithful in what God wants you to
do and God will have His power work within you," Pastor Joya
           said.

           The
early Christians devoted themselves to the following:

           Bible Study
           They
devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching

           ...and
           to the fellowship.
           1.
           physical togetherness
           All
the believers were together...Every day they continued to meet
           together in the temple courts.
           2.
           material sharing
           ...and
had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they
gave to anyone as he had need.

           C.
           Worship
           Everyday
they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke
bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
           praising God.
           1.
Their worship was corporate as it was individual.
           2.
           Their worship was regular.
           3.
           Their worship was Christo-centric.
           4.
           Their worship involved the family.
           5.
           Their worship was sincere.
