Keeping
Faithful to the Lord

Brother Ruel Muje,
our guest speaker, talked about three things that keep Christians
living faithfully according to God's will and working for the
ministry that He has entrusted us.
One question raised
was "What keep us going every day despite what seems to be a
monotony of our daily schedule or routine?" Brother Muje,
quoting 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, cited three answers to the
question:
1. Our Strength
or Inner Character - God renews our strength day by day.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting
away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day" (2
Corinthians 4:16).
God's great love
always sustains us. "Because of the Lord's great love, we are
not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every
morning; great is your faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22-23).
God molds us into
the character that He wants us to be, which is in the likeness of
Jesus Christ. "Therefore as God's chosen people, holy and dearly
loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,
gentleness and patience." (Colossians 3:12).
The two important
things that build our spiritual character are the Word of God and
prayer.
2. Our Hope for
Eternal Glory - God wants us to persevere, until we claim the
glory that He prepares for us in Heaven. "For our light and
momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far
outweighs them all" (2 Corinthians 4:17).
Sometimes, we are
discouraged because of our human expectations and social pressures.
However, we have to realize that as Christians, we live not to please
this world but the Lord. "So we make it our goal to please Him,
whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all
appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive
what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good
or bad" (2 Corinthians 5:9-10).
3. Eternal
Perspective - Knowing that we will live forever with Jesus Christ
is our greatest motivation. "So we fix our eyes not on what is
seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what
is unseen is eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:18).
Brother Muje
exhorted the congregation to make an impact that will last forever.
"Only what is done for Christ will last for eternity," he
said.
