Jesus
Christ to the Church

Pastor Nicky Joya talked about
Jesus Christ and His Church during last Sunday's worship
service. Based on chapters 1, 2 and 3 of the Book of
Revelation, the message explained who Jesus Christ is to the seven
churches in the 1st Century A.D. or to all His churches around the
world today.
The Book of Revelation presented
Jesus Christ as the Son of God whose face was like the sun shining
in all its brilliance. He holds the seven stars in His right
hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. Pastor
Nicky said that the seven stars refer to the seven angels or
leaders of the seven churches while the seven golden lampstands
refer to the seven churches, which are the light of the world.
The passages in the first three
chapters of Revelation discuss how Jesus Christ treats His Church.
- He is the One who watches
over the churches. (These are the words of Him who
holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the
seven golden lampstands. 2:1)
- He is the supreme example
of One who triumphed through suffering. (These are the
words of Him who is the First and the Last, who died and came
to life again. 2:8)
- He is the Judge of the
Church. (These are the words of Him who has the sharp,
double-edged sword. 2:12)
- He is the One who sees
through the facade of the Church and judges the inner
motives and attitudes of its people. (These are the words
of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose
feet are like burnished bronze. 2:18)
- He is the One who empowers
the church to bring glory to Him. (These are the words of
Him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.
3:1)
- He is the One who unlocks
the doors of opportunities for the Church. (These are the
words of Him who is holy and true, who holds the key of
David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts
no one can open. 3:7)
- He is the absolute authority
over the Church. (These are the words of the Amen, the
faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. 3:14)
This message is a part of a
series that presents who Jesus Christ really is - as the Shepherd,
the Great High Priest and the Son of God.
