Me Lesson 2: What Has Jesus Christ Accomplished? In the previous lesson, we have learned about the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ. Although God, He took on human flesh in order that "He might taste death for everyone" (Heb 2:9). Let us now look at the meaning of His sacrificial work in a more detailed manner. The Meaning of Christ's Death 1. Jesus Christ's death fully satisfied the just demands of God's holiness. Through His sacrifice, His wrath is turned away. Jesus Christ's death was substitutionary. He died on our behalf so that we would no longer pay the penalty of our sins. As such, He cannot allow sin to go unpunished. God, on the other hand, is also loving. Jesus Christ's death was made to set man free from his bondage to sin's penalty and power. This ransom was a once-for-all payment to God. It is a historical fact. It is supported by tremendous evidence. It proves that Jesus Christ is the Savior who has authority over death.
